To my students: Ciao
Friday (6/12/15) will be our last official day of class together. After working as your substitute teacher for the month of October in 2014 I was overjoyed to become your teacher for the remainder of the year. I am so honored and blessed to have been apart of your life these past few quarters. As I will not be returning to you next year I wanted to leave you with a heart-felt letter:
You all are so talented, brilliant, full of personality and tons of energy. I would have never thought my life would have included such amazing students who taught me so much about themselves and myself. Through our ups and downs we grew close. I went from zero to 160+ “kids” I loved as my own.
I have contemplated for the last two weeks how I would say my closing words and all I can think of is,”I love you kiddos!” No matter where life takes you I ask that you remember who and whose you are. Reminisce on our time together and the growth you made in such a short time. Do not walk in fear but rather knowing that you WILL BE victorious, no matter what life obstacles come your way. Make wise decisions as every action has a consequence. Rest on the shoulders of the Giants that love you dearly, such as your parents and teachers and know that they have your best interest at heart. Listen to them too! We’ve “been there and done that” so we speak out of love and understanding not because we want you to be robots. :) Also love who are you! You are Gifted! You are Beautiful! You are Cherished! You are SMART! You are a LEADER! If anyone tells you otherwise they are not worth your time. Who you are, is enough. Don’t change unless it is for the betterment of yourself and those around you.
My goal as your teacher was to build class moral, have an oasis for you and your classmates, apply real world issues into classroom conversations, delve into English-Language Arts, and Writing and have you finish your end of the year with amazing EOG scores.
We accomplished all of that in my book.
As I hold back tears (yes Ms. B is a crybaby) I want you to know you were all worth it, and I would do it again in a heartbeat including the many headaches. :) As you move on to the next grade level, then high school and college don’t ever forget me...as I won’t ever forget you.
If at anytime you need me, for anything...to talk, to vent, for a recommendation or support in an event do not hesitate to contact me… with your correct header of course. ;) Keep Pushing. Keep Smiling.
With Love and Admiration,
Ms. B(ethea)
